He now is in a large pen an has the entire basement for himself for running around! I followed your instuctions with the Simethicone Drops and one treatment was all that was needed. We adopted them from the SPCA, who had seized them from a cruel owner, but they're happy and well cared for now, living it up in our living room.

- If you don't know his story, I have had Saye since he was seven weeks old. He is the third Shepherd I've raised and I think I knew from the first that something was wrong. He has always been afraid of children and the basement stairs... He made his first aggressive moves on the Vet at his old clinic when he was only a few months old. He was, without a doubt, the smartest puppy in his three rounds of training but, by the third set, he was lunging and barking at all the weaker dogs. I had him neutered when he was full grown to protect his hips and other bones. That didn'thelp. When he lunged at the vet when he was around two, she suggested in no uncertain terms, that I have him destroyed. Devastated, and sobbing I got in touch with Bright Star. Thank God Mary was there and knew Saye from the countless hours we had spent trying to socialize him. They were incredible and supportive and referred me to All Creatures, specifically Dr. Albert. HE did the correct blood work and found my baby had a thyroid problem. I now understand that thyroid disorders are a leading cause of aggression in dogs. Saye was put on thyroid replacement and Fluoxetine and referred to Miranda Workman. Miranda is an angel and I learned more from her in an hour than I had in the last two years of dealing with Saye's behavior. She pointed out that he had never actually bitten anyone and probably never intended to do so. She guessed, probably correctly, that he had learned to use his lunging as a way of getting rid of the person, animal or thing that he was afraid of. With that in mind, we worked with him to desensitize him and give him some alternative strategies. Today, he is hardly angelic but he behaves more like a German Shepherd every day. I am so proud of him I could cry at every milestone. Recently, even having just had his dose of Fluoxetine cut in half, he was able to cope with four other dogs over four days in his house, playing with his toys, without one outburst. As far as I am concerned, my big, beautiful doofus owes his life to Dr. Albert, Mary, and the incredibly patient and caring staff of All Creatures. We have a great debt to Bright Star and Miranda Workman. I am so grateful to them all. Laurel Cossitt and Saye
- Here are Yankee Doodle and Freedom. Yankee Doodle is a Golden Doodle, and Freedom is a Golden Retriever. We named them that because we are a very proud American family. Our Marine son Matt has been back and forth to Iraq, has been wounded in combat, etc. Yankee Doodle and Freedom are very well-loved and cared for. This is a picture for their 1st Birthdays. They were born 9 days apart. We adopted them from the same breeder. This is typical of their personalities - Freedom eats everything and Yankee Doodle tells us ! Dr. Jim knows us well. He has been a wonderful support with Yankee having renal dysplasia. Yankee's done very well with her health- much better than we all expected. They both just celebrated their 3rd Birthday ! That's something we never imagined would happen with Yankee's illness. However, with lots of love, the right food, and following Dr. Jim's advice, she's doing just fine ! Dr. Jim and the staff have made a huge impact on our family with all of this. As a result, our 15 year old daughter Adrienne says she wants to be a Veterinarian, just like Dr. Jim. She now volunteers at All Creatures to learn and also help out. You may see her there ! Thank you Dr. Jim and everyone for all you do ! Love, The Luther Family
